About this event
Meow Meow host
Joe Chindamo, Nicolas Fleury and John Gabriel panelists
Mahler’s Symphonies, which have become a mainstay of the orchestral repertoire, were composed against a backdrop of increasing nationalism, social upheaval and technological change.
In an evening of performance and conversation, hosted by the inimitable Meow Meow and featuring composer Joe Chindamo, MSO Principal Horn Nico Fleury, and musicologist Dr John Gabriel, we will explore how these influences shaped Mahler’s work and discover the parallels with our own tumultuous times that makes this music still so relevant.
This event will be filmed; there will be cameras in the auditorium.
Duration: approx. 75 minutes, no interval
