Perth-raised oboist Alexandra Allan has recently completed her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) with Jeffrey Crellin, following a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) at the University of Western Australia with Leanne Glover. During her studies, Alex was supported by a number of scholarships and prizes, notably the Delano Scholarship, Choral Society Prize, and the Edith Cowan Prize.
Alex freelances regularly in Perth, previously having performed with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, WA Ballet, WA Opera, and the Perth Symphony Orchestra. In 2022 she performed ‘Way Out West’ by Graeme Koehne as a soloist with the West Coast Philharmonic Orchestra at the Perth Concert Hall. Alex participated in Australian Youth Orchestra programs throughout her studies, travelling Europe and China on International Tour and completing the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Fellowship in 2019. In 2024, Alex will participate in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Academy program.
