Adam grew up in Sydney and started playing trumpet as part of his primary school’s band program, taking lessons with Rob Jardine, and then later with Adam Tomkins.
Adam continued his trumpet studies with a Bachelor of Music under Andrew Evans at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. One of Adam’s highlights of his undergrad was participating in a summer chamber music festival in Verona with his brass quintet. The ensemble had daily masterclasses and performed regularly throughout the idyllic city under the guidance of Alberto Frugoni and Markus Würsch.
He found his love of orchestral music in Berlin, where he spent a year at the Universität der Künste. After completing his studies Adam undertook a residency program, living and working with the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra in China. A particularly memorable moment of his time in China was performing Shostakovich’s Tenth Symphony. He is eager to work with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and is excited to see what living in Melbourne will bring.
