Drawing inspiration from music that I once lulled my own daughters to sleep, this playlist should create a soothing and calm atmosphere for any little precious bundle of joy.

My Classical selection would include elegant piano music, Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Chopin Nocturnes, and Debussy’s graceful Claire de Lune, and La Fille six cheveux de Lin.

Debussy’s Claire de Lune, and La Fille six cheveux de Lin

Debussy is always on top of my list for creating a gentle and relaxing ambience.

Schubert

Schubert, who was a master at writing for the voice is also a definite on my playlist. Babies are soothed by the human voice, Dietrich Fischer- Dieskau singing Nacht und Traume (Night and Day) is guaranteed to calm any little one! Barbara Bonney singing Schubert Lieder is also a winner.

Mozart's flute and harp concerto

Mozart's flute and harp concerto especially the second movement is one of the most calm, elegant and beautiful pieces of music there is.

Wendy's Soothing Music for Babies

Carpenters (They Long To Be) Close to You, Elvis Presley Love me Tender, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Moving to more popular classics, the Carpenters "Close to You", Elvis Presley's "Love me Tender", and Somewhere Over the Rainbow are nostalgic tunes that I would have sung hundreds, if not thousands of times to my daughters at bedtime. They are all beautiful lullabies, and always succeeded in soothing the soul.

Ella Fitzgerald It's a Lovely Day and Nat & Natalie Cole Unforgettable

Since my daughters are both named after jazz legends, jazz influences shine through with Ella Fitzgerald's "It's a Lovely Day", and the Nat and Natalie Cole collaboration "Unforgettable ".

This playlist of soothing music for Newborns is full of cherished musical memories that shaped my own parenting, and I'm sure any baby will feel tranquil and serene with this collection of classics.
