Melbourne Recital Centre
Throughout history composers have drawn on the past to find a new way forward. In this concert Nicholas Bochner will explore the parallel worlds and works of early 20th C English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams and Melbourne’s own Mary Finsterer.
Both composers have drawn on the aesthetics and the sonorities of the music of the Renaissance to craft a unique voice in a time of great social and artistic upheaval.
Students will gain insights that lead to an understanding of two important works, as well as tools to interpret composition more generally.
