Rebecca Proietto is a Melbourne-based cellist who has a Masters degree in cello performance from Stony Brook University in New York where she studied with Colin Carr. Previous to this she spent two years at the Australian National Academy of Music after finishing her Bachelor of Music with Honours and Diploma of Modern Languages at the University of Melbourne.
Rebecca performed casually with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra, the ACO Collective, the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra. She was a member of the Sydney Symphony Fellowship program in 2015 and was an emerging artist with the Australian Chamber Orchestra in 2014. She has worked with young cellists at various schools in addition to running string workshops throughout regional Australia.
Rebecca has been the recipient of the Gwen Prokter and Lizette Bentwich Scholarships from the University of Melbourne, the Annie, Jean & Doris Lamont Scholarship and was an awardee of an Australian Music Fund Grant for 2014.
