Gabrielle Halloran commenced her viola studies with Rosia Pasteur and went on to study with Lawrie Jacks at the VCA. She then completed her post-grad studies with Thomas Riebl at the Mozarteum Salzburg. During her time in Salzburg, Gabby performed in numerous chamber ensembles and was tutored by members of the Hagen String Quartet. She gave chamber concerts in Paris for the Mozart Bicentenary in 1991 and toured Europe and Asia with Salzburg Sinfonietta.

In 1993 Gabby gained a tutti viola position with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. Gabby returned to Europe in 1996 after winning a MSO Friends scholarship and performed at summer schools in Salzburg and Siena (with Yuri Bashmet). Gabby subsequently studied with David Takeno in London and Karen Tuttle in New York.

Gabby is a regular performer with MSO Chamber Players, Ensemble Varie, Team of Pianists and Fidelio String Quartet. She also enjoys teaching at VCASS, stand up paddle boarding on Melbourne's beautiful bay, and training for half marathons.
