Take a Roman holiday and join Melbourne Symphony Orchestra on a musical journey to the forests and fountains of Italy’s capital.

Your tour will take you to Rome’s fountains with Respighi’s Fountains of Rome where each movement depicts one of Rome’s fountains at different times of day. Continue with a visit to the city’s green spaces in Pines of Rome. Together these beautiful compositions form two thirds of Respighi’s Roman Trilogy, the works for which the composer is best known.

Under the baton of brilliant young conductor Marcelo Lehninger, MSO will also perform Szymanowski’s powerful first symphonic composition, his Concert Overture. And to follow, the Brazilian virtuoso Nelson Freire returns to the MSO after a 20-year absence to perform Schumann’s only Piano Concerto.

Expect an exhilarating evening!
