Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No.1
Stravinsky The Rite of Spring
Diego Matheuz conductor
Nikolai Demidenko piano
The first performance of The Rite of Spring sparked a full-scale riot in the audience. It was a landmark in the history of modern music and heralded the birth of a masterpiece. Today, The Rite of Spring sounds as alive as it did 100 years ago, and the passion of Tchaikovsky’s piano concerto hasn’t lost any of its magic.
Pre-concert talk presented by University of Melbourne Senior Lecturer Michael Christoforidis.
