Ears Wide Open

Keychange: Women in Music

As international music organisations move towards achieving a 50:50 gender balance, how does Melbourne’s music community measure up?

ABC Afternoons’ Jacinta Parsons speaks to our panel of music makers, leaders and creators – Deborah Cheetham AO, Monica Curro, Eliza Shephard and Bryony Marks – as they discuss the challenges, opportunities and pathways of their own experience, and how we can make sure we get the balance right.

Ears Wide Open is MSO’s talks and ideas program celebrating our music and artists through informative presentations, conversations, behind the scenes demonstrations and participatory workshops.

Keychange is an international campaign which invests in emerging talent whilst encouraging music festivals, orchestras, conservatoires, broadcasters, concert halls, agents, record labels and all music organisations to sign up to a 50:50 gender balance pledge by 2022.

This event will be filmed with cameras in the auditorium.
