Nicholas Bochner presenter
Brett Kelly conductor

Our usual guide and host, Richard Gill, has had to withdraw from this concert. However, we’re pleased to welcome two of MSO’s most experienced musicians to guide you through this renowned work. Assistant Principal Cellist Nicholas Bochner will present the concert while trombonist and conductor Brett Kelly will lead the Orchestra.

Kodály Dances of Galanta

About the performance

Part concert, part guided-musical-journey; this is music education at its finest.

The first Ears Wide Open event for 2018 focuses on Dances of Galanta, a renowned orchestral work composed by Hungarian composer and ethnomusicologist Zoltán Kodály. This work uses motifs from the folk music of travelling bands from Kodály’s childhood and was composed for the 80th anniversary of the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra in 1933.

Always a sell-out, we recommend securing your seat as soon as possible.
