Christopher Seaman conductor
Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus
Celebrate Christmas with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, with a colourful array of works inspired by the festive season to get you into the mood for the holidays!
British conductor Christopher Seaman joins the MSO and the MSO Chorus for some delightfully fun traditional tunes, from famous orchestral works like holiday season favourites The Nutcracker by Tchaikovsky, Humperdinck’s Hansel and Gretel and Rimsky-Korsakov’s Christmas Eve.
J.S. Bach’s opening chorus from the Christmas Oratorio brings a sense of distinguishment to the occasion and Corelli’s crowd favourite, the Christmas Concerto, sees the depiction of shepherds visiting the manger in Bethlehem on the first Christmas. We’ll also throw in a few rounds of the Hallelujah Chorus, just for good measure!
Running time: 2 hours, including a 20-minute interval
Bring out the eggnog (or the prawns) and the Christmas crackers because there’s plenty of festive cheer to go around with the MSO this festive season!
