In a spectacular one-night-only event, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra will perform an exhilarating program of popular classical hits in a fun-filled concert.
The concert will highlight specially arranged short extracts from favourite classical masterpieces, many known from popular culture. An extraordinary display of lasers and lights will complete the ultimate surround sound symphonic experience.
The favourites include Wagner’s The Ride of the Valkyries featured in Apocalypse Now, Beethoven’s famous opening dramatic notes from the Fifth Symphony, Ravel’s climactic Bolero, the epic Carmina Burana familiar from television commercials, the divine O Sole Mio which Elvis Presley recreated as ‘It’s Now or Never’, along with many other top classical hits.
Featuring guest artists soprano Greta Bradman and tenor Rosario La Spina, the MSO and the MSO Chorus will be under the baton of Associate Conductor Benjamin Northey.
