Beethoven Leonore: Overture No. 3
Beethoven Violin Concerto
Tchaikovsky Symphony No.6 Pathétique

Diego Matheuz conductor
Nicola Benedetti violin

Principal Guest Conductor Diego Matheuz directs this thrilling program, which culminates in Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique symphony; in its melodic richness and emotional power, it is one of the greatest of all Romantic orchestral works.

Scottish-born violinist Nicola Benedetti “brings … a degree of heat, subtlety and quicksilver colours only achieved by the world’s best.” (The Times, London.) She is soloist in Beethoven’s concerto, unprecedented in its scale and in its expansive and intricate dialogues between soloist and orchestra.

Pre-concert talk (12 and 13 September at 7pm)
Chamber music performance by musicians from the University of Melbourne.
