Stravinsky The Soldier’s Tale: Suite (arranged for clarinet, violin and piano)
Hindemith Quartet for clarinet, violin, cello and piano
Brahms Piano Quartet No.3

As World War I ended, Stravinsky was living in Europe cut off from his royalties because of the Russian revolution. Needing to generate some income, he created the little theatre piece The Soldier’s Tale, from which he arranged this suite for clarinet, violin and piano as a token of gratitude to the financier of the original production, who was an excellent amateur clarinetist. After Hindemith’s lyrical work you’ll hear Brahms’ quartet, the slow movement of which has one of the most beautiful cello solos in all chamber music.
