Poulenc

Poulenc was a French composer of solo piano music, chamber music, oratorio, choral music, opera, ballet music, and orchestral music. He belonged to the Paris-based group of composers Les Six who led the neo-classical movement, rejecting the overstated emotion of Romanticism. His music was initially light-weight in style, but the death of a close friend in 1935 brought a new depth to his work.
