In 2020, the MSO joins orchestras around the world to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven’s birth.

The MSO will feature Beethoven as you’ve never seen him before. His Ninth Symphony will be physically embodied by Circa Contemporary Circus, and paired with musical interpretations by Deborah Cheetham AO and Tan Dun.

The Emperor Piano Concerto will be juxtaposed with a co-commission by Brett Dean.

We will participate in the Beethoven Pastoral Project; a global event. And some of the world’s leading Beethoven artists will perform your favourite symphonies and the great concertos.
