About this performance
2022 has seen the launch of the MSO Academy which provides young instrumentalists a vital final bridge to a successful career.
The program is one of contrasts and surprises starting with Mozart's youthful Flute Quartet in D, a beautiful evocation of spring, before moving into Ross Edwards’ unique sonic response to the Australian environment. In contrast to these exterior themes Ukrainian-Australian composer Catherine Likhuta's work Lesions is an exploration of the stages of dealing with a devastating diagnosis. Completing the concert is a showcase for an instrument rarely heard as a soloist – the tuba!
Join these brilliant young musicians as they celebrate the end of this first year performing a stunning program of chamber music alongside the stars of the MSO.
Duration: approx. 1 hour, no interval
The MSO Academy is supported by Platinum Patrons Di Jameson and Frank Mercurio.
