Birdsongs sees the band’s signature classics and new music soar to new heights with Australia’s State orchestras in Perth, Brisbane, Hobart, Melbourne and Sydney
August - September 2023.
Birds of Tokyo, one of Australia’s most beloved bands is teaming up with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra for an electrifying concert experience called Birdsongs, as part of their national tour. They will also perform with the West Australian, Queensland, Tasmanian and Sydney Symphony Orchestras.
Enjoy the soaring melodies and raw energy of classic anthems like Plans, Lanterns, Good Lord and Anchor, alongside new songs, all reimagined with stunning arrangements by acclaimed orchestrator, Nicholas Buc, who will also conduct all dates.
The tour will weave around Australia during August and September, visiting the country’s most prestigious live venues starting with hometown shows in the Perth Concert Hall and climaxing at the Sydney Opera House. Dates and ticketing details are listed below.
Birds of Tokyo have cemented their place as Australia’s most successful contemporary rock band. Capturing the hearts of music fans with three chart-topping albums, the band has appeared multiple times at iconic events including the AFL Grand Final and has won APRA’s ‘Rock Work of the Year’ an extraordinary seven times. But it's their concerts that truly set them apart - from explosive energy to spine-tingling moments of intimacy, Birds of Tokyo are captivating live performers whose sweeping and dynamic songs are a powerful match for a full symphony orchestra.
The band previously collaborated with Australian orchestras in 2021 for world premiere performances of their greatest songs, fully orchestrated. Birdsongs sees Birds of Tokyo expand these extraordinary live shows, adding new songs and collaborating with more orchestras to bring the concert experience to five venues across the country.
“We are beyond excited to be working with Australia’s finest musicians like this”, said Birds of Tokyo founding member, Adam Spark. “It’s like a dream come true for us and we can’t wait to create something really special together.”
