The Best of British: Last Night of the Proms

Posted on

Sir Andrew Davis will lead the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Chorus through the best of British classical music, in a dazzling flag-waving celebration, when the Last Night of the Proms comes to Hamer Hall this March.

The Last Night of the Proms promises to be an evening of popular favourites, especially with MSO’s Chief Conductor Sir Andrew Davis, who has conducted more ‘Last Nights’ than any other modern conductor, at the helm.

Featuring Australian soloists, contralto Liane Keegan and pianist Piers Lane, the MSO will perform great works of Great Britain including Arne’s Rule, Britannia, Wood’s Fantasia on British Sea Songs and of course Elgar’s immortal Land of Hope and Glory among many others resulting in a spectacular red, white and blue feast of music-making.
