Prepare to be dazzled: the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra meets the circus

Posted on

Following sold-out performances around the world, Cirque de la Symphonie comes to Melbourne on 15 & 16 July.

The MSO is joined by a host of international circus performers, including acrobats, contortionists, jugglers and strongmen for a night of classical music like you’ve never seen before.

Led by MSO’s Associate Conductor, Benjamin Northey, the Orchestra performs classical masterpieces whilst circus artists enact their spectacular feats in front, above and around them.

The program features popular classical music by composers from Tchaikovsky and Sibelius to John Williams, whose music from Hook closes the first half of the program.

Cirque de la Symphonie will appeal to all, Northey said:
‘This performance promises to be a wild and fun way to experience popular classical music. I can’t wait to see what the sound of the orchestra brings out in the circus performers as they dance, juggle and fly through the air all around us. Apparently I even participate in a magic act (what could possibly go wrong…?). A perfect family event and one for those who like their music fun and action-packed!’

This is a not-to-be missed opportunity to see the circus come to the MSO. Tickets are selling fast!
