About the program
Symphony in a Day is an opportunity for community orchestral musicians aged 18+ to become a member of the MSO for a day. The program involves the opportunity to join the world-class players of the MSO under the baton of Assistant Conductor Tianyi Lu for rehearsals and sectional coaching culminating in a main stage performance at Hamer Hall.
Participants must be grade 6 level or above, and aged 18 or over. Positions are allocated to eligible applicants on a first-come-first-served basis and are subject to payment of the $30 participation fee.
Sectional rehearsals are usually held at ABC Southbank Centre, 120–130 Southbank Boulevard. Rehearsals and performance will take place in Hamer Hall, Arts Centre Melbourne. Applicants need to make their own way to and from all venues.
