Natalie Chee began her musical career at the age of 4 on piano. She began to learn the violin at the age of 5 and by the age of 10 she became a student of Alex Todicescu, a professor at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and member of the Sydney String Quartet.

After winning numerous competitions and prizes in Australia, including the ABC Young Performer of the Year, Natalie appeared as a soloist with all of the Australian Symphony Orchestras whilst she was in still in high school. Natalie was then accepted into the Soloist Class of Prof. Igor Ozim in Bern, Switzerland where she received her Soloist Diploma with High Distinction.

Still a student, Natalie was invited to become a member of Camerata Bern which she also directed. During this time she co-founded the chamber music ensemble ‘Tiramisu’ and the Mozart Piano Quartet. She toured North and South America, Europe and Australia with these groups and made several recordings with prominent labels in Switzerland and Germany.

In 2000, Natalie became the 1st Concertmaster of the internationally renowned chamber orchestra Camerata Salzburg. In 2009 Natalie then went on to become the 1st Concertmaster of the Radio Symphony Orchestra in Stuttgart and in 2019 she moved to Cologne as 1st Concertmaster of the Gürzenich Orchestra. She is a regular guest Concertmaster and director of orchestras all over the world including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic, Munich State Opera, Hamburg Radio Orchestra, Swedish Radio Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Toronto Symphony Orchestra, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and St Martin in the Fields Chamber Orchestra.  She is also a highly regarded chamber musician and appears in festivals and concerts throughout Australia and Europe. 

From 2009 until 2025 Natalie was the Primarius of the Hegel String Quartet in Stuttgart. Their CD ‘From Vienna to Hollywood’ was chosen by the German Record Critics Award as one of the 4 best chamber music recordings in 2022.

In 2026 Natalie returns to Australia to take on the role of Concertmaster of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
