Winner of the 2026 Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, Sheng-Yuan Lynch has performed across Australia, Asia and Europe, including concerto appearances with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and Macquarie Symphony Orchestra, and alongside internationally renowned ballet star Roberto Bolle.
Sheng-Yuan's successes include winning the 2024 Great Romantics Competition, being named a semi-finalist in the ABC Young Performers Awards, and receiving Silver Award at the Finlandia International Piano Competition. He was also named the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra's 2018 Rising Star. At the Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, he was awarded Best Performance of a Work by Chopin.
Sheng-Yuan began learning piano by ear at the age of three, before commencing formal lessons with Shan Deng, Senior Lecturer in Classical Piano at the University of Tasmania, in 2012. By age 12, he had earned his AMEB AMusA and LMusA diplomas with Distinction, and is currently undertaking his third year of Bachelor of Music at UTAS with majors in classical piano and film composition.
Using music as a way to assist those in need, Sheng-Yuan performed a series of charity concerts from 2016 to 2023, helping donate a total of almost $200,000 to various organisations. For his philanthropic efforts, he was honoured with the 2021 City of Hobart Young Citizen of the Year, and finalist recognition for the Heather & Christopher Chong Community Service & Volunteering Award of the Tasmanian Young Achiever Awards.
