Matthew Horsley is a multi-instrumentalist, composer and ethnomusicologist specialising in the uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes). He has performed extensively across classical, experimental, popular, jazz and folk genres, with artists such as ELISION Ensemble, the Australian Art Orchestra, Steve Reich, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Speak Percussion. He played Irish flutes, whistles and uilleann pipes with the Australian production of the acclaimed musical Come From Away from 2019 to 2023.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Music in percussion from the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, a Master of Music Performance (by Research) from the Victorian College of the Arts and a PhD in ethnomusicology from Monash University, where he maintains a teaching role. His first uilleann piping album, Australian Waters, was released in 2015.
