Kate is driven by the power of culture to increase empathy and understanding between people and nations. Initially trained as a classical saxophonist, Kate left the practise room behind to pursue a 20+ year career in the arts which has seen her collaborate with artists, cultural institutions and governments in Indonesia, India, China, PNG, UK and throughout Australia.
Kate loves bringing ambitious creative ideas to life. She was founding Associate Director of Asia TOPA (2017 & 2020) and played a foundational role in establishing Oz Fest India, Asia Pop Fest, PASIFIX and The Black Arm Band. Kate created her own boutique cultural agency Turning World in 2012 and has since been engaged by every level of Australian Government, major international events including London Olympics and GC Commonwealth Games, and many of Australia's leading artists and institutions. She regularly collaborates with DFAT as a cultural diplomacy specialist.
Kate has been awarded a Churchill Fellowship, Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship, Greenroom Award and is the producer of multiple Helpmann Award winning productions. She was a member of Minister Burke’s Expert Review Panel for the 2023 National Cultural Policy.
Valley of the Dry Bones is her fourth cross-cultural collaboration with the MSO.
