Flora’s passion for music began at an early age; she has played the cello since the age of ten and the piano since six. She was awarded a six-year music scholarship at St Hilda’s School, where she graduated in 2024 as Music Captain and School Prefect. She studied cello with Karol Kowalik until 2021, and subsequently with David Lale, achieving her AMusA in Cello in 2022 and LMusA in 2023. Alongside her cello studies, she completed her AMusA with distinction in Piano in 2021 and attained her LMusA in 2024 under the guidance of Esther Lee. She is currently in her second year of the Bachelor of Music (Performance) at the University of Melbourne, where she studies cello with Richard Narroway.
Flora has participated in Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp and had competed in numerous Queensland Eisteddfods for both cello and piano, achieving outstanding results. She was selected as a finalist in the 2023 Queensland Symphony Orchestra Young Instrumentalist Prize Competition. That year, she performed in both a piano trio and octet within the University of Queensland Chamber Music Program and achieved success at numerous Eisteddfods, including a performance at Customs House.
Flora has been a member of the Queensland Youth Symphony since 2023, toured around Europe and Singapore and performing at the Esplanade Concert Hall and the Musikverein. In 2025, she participated in a masterclass with Sharon Grigoryan. This year, her Melbourne-based piano trio had the privilege of performing at the Government House Melbourne for the Australian Day. In the following month, her string quartet was selected to receive a masterclass with the Australian String Quartet. Flora aspires to become the finest musician she can be and hopes to pursue further studies abroad to deepen her artistic understanding and continue refining her craft.
