Christopher "CJ" Jones is a dedicated and accomplished pianist who began playing at the age of six, studying under his father, Scott Jones, using the Simply Music method.
Over the years, CJ has developed a versatile and expressive style, reflected in his outstanding success across classical, modern, baroque, and post-modern repertoire.
CJ has achieved exceptional results at the Launceston competitions, earning numerous first-place awards across multiple age divisions. His musical excellence has been further recognised through prestigious awards from the Launceston City Council, the Tasmanian Music Excellence Award for Most Promising Competitor, the Edward Weasley Memorial Award for Best Piano Player and others.
A standout moment in CJ's career was his appearance on the ABC television program "The Piano", where he was selected to perform and voted through to play in the final episode at the Sydney Recital Hall – an achievement that brought his talent to a national audience.
CJ is an experienced performer, regularly playing at aged care homes and community events. He has performed at the Princess Theatre, the Sydney Recital Hall, MONA FOMA, and Albert Hall in Launceston, in addition to being the resident pianist for the Launceston Jazz Club. He has had the opportunity to work alongside respected artists including Guy Sebastian, Andrea Lam and Ed Tulsa.
With a strong foundation, extensive experience, and a genuine love for performance, CJ continues to grow as a musician, captivating audiences wherever he plays.
