Countertenor Alex Ritter is an in-demand soloist, chamber singer, and chorister.
Alex specialises in Baroque and oratorio repertoire, having appeared as a guest soloist with the Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, Genesis Baroque and the Melbourne Baroque Orchestra in works including Bach’s St Matthew Passion and St John Passion, Buxtehude’s Membra Jesu Nostri and Handel’s Dixit Dominus. Alex enjoys stretching his musical horizons, having toured the Baroque-Japanese minimalist project Patterns of Plants with Astra and Van Diemen’s Band.
As a chamber musician, he maintains a busy performing schedule as a member of some of Melbourne’s premier vocal ensembles, including The Consort of Melbourne, Divisi Chamber Singers, Alta Collective, Fiore, and Polyphonic Voices. Alex currently serves as the Director of Music at St James’ Old Cathedral in West Melbourne, where he is involved in the commissioning, premiering and recording of new Australian choral work.
