Now recruiting: the Pizzicato Effect

    The Pizzicato Effect is the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra’s (MSO) flagship afterschool community music program. It provides free string instrumental and musicianship tuition to children living in the City of Hume council region in Victoria, Australia.

    The program is closely aligned with the principles of El Sistema, the internationally celebrated music program in Venezuela that promotes the benefits of communal music-making to children’s development.

    Continuing the MSO’s long association with the City of Hume, the program is based at our host venue in Broadmeadows and runs on Monday and Wednesday afternoons during the Victorian school term. In 2017, the program will support up to 75 children from 20 different local schools in the City of Hume council region.

    Lead Teaching Artist (Violin / Viola), Senior Ensemble
    The Pizzicato Effect is seeking an experienced, passionate and empathetic Teaching Artist to assume the role of Lead Teaching Artist (Violin / Viola), Senior Ensemble. The successful candidate will be an experienced instrumentalist and educator specialising in Violin or Viola, but may have additional experience teaching/working with/playing other stringed instruments.     Teaching Artist, Cello
    The Pizzicato Effect is seeking a passionate and empathetic musician/education to assume the role of Teaching Artist (Cello), Senior Ensemble. The successful candidate will be an experienced instrumentalist and educator specialising in Cello, but may have additional experience teaching/working with/playing other stringed instruments.
