The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is one of the largest employers of musicians and arts workers in Victoria. Year on year, we employ over 400 people made up of permanent and casual musicians and staff.
In addition to the core body of the orchestra (currently 80 permanent musicians and 8 vacancies to be filled once we have the opportunity to reopen), MSO also employs over 200 casual musicians.
To keep the music going, and put our great musicians on stage, it takes over 50 permanent and 40 casual staff.
The MSO also draws on a broad community of volunteers both on stage and behind the scenes. To support our artistic program, we currently count on over 120 members of the MSO Chorus.
Vacancies for orchestral and administration positions will appear on the MSO website.
The Melbourne Symphony Orchestra has a reputation for excellence, versatility and innovation and has been performing since 1906. With world-renowned conductors and soloists appearing in a variety of programs, the MSO performs live to nearly 400,000 people each year, as well as approximately 5 million people via broadcast.
