One of the most outstanding vocalists of her generation, Tan Weiwei will perform the world premiere of Song Lines of China, a collaborative work composed by Tan Dun and Weiwei at this unmissable special event.
East Meets West: Chinese New Year Concert sees Maestro Tan Dun return to lead the MSO, bringing a creative repertoire that spans the boundaries of classical music, multimedia performance and Eastern and Western traditions.
This year’s annual Chinese New Year celebration features include Falla’s Ritual Fire Dance from El Amor Brujo, Guan Xia’s 100 Birds Flying towards the Phoenix for suona and orchestra featuring Liu Wenwen (suona), Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite (1919) and Tan Dun’s own Concerto for Piano and Peking Opera Soprano Farewell My Concubine featuring Xiao Di (Peking Opera soprano) and Ralph van Raat (piano).
