Robert Cossom

Snare Drum Award

First and Second year Tertiary Students

MSO musician Robert Cossom established the MSO Snare Drum Award in 2004 to support the talents of up-and-coming percussionists. Open to undergraduate tertiary students, this award presents an exclusive opportunity for budding musicians to learn from the best.

Last year’s award winner was Mathew Levy. This year’s Award will be held on Wednesday 14 August 2013. Auditions will be held during the day with four finalists selected to progress to the public final round evening concert in the Iwaki Auditorium, ABC Southbank Centre. A panel of experts will decide the winner.

The winning recipient of the 2013 MSO Snare Drum Award will receive a Mastro concert snare drum and case, a bitsandpieces trap table, an MIT Percussion stand, a Just Percussion mallet pack, prizes from Evans drumheads and Zildjian cymbals, and a one-year mentorship with the MSO.
