In celebration of its first 100 years, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra is publishing an elegant, full colour, hardback, coffee table book written by professional historian Stella M. Barber who has spent years researching in archives and libraries around Australia.

Containing 200 pages of stories and beautiful images, this book is a must for anyone interested in not only the MSO, but the story of great music-making in Melbourne from 1906 to 2006. Nine chapters follow the story of the MSO giving the background to its formation, its very first concert on December 11, 1906 to its Centenary Concert on December 11, 2006 and focuses on the many people who have made the MSO what it is today.
