MSO Chorus
About the MSO Chorus
“An impassioned performance replete with ingenious nuances, clarity and breadth of expression, and steadfast concentration.” (Eamonn Kelly, The Australian, 23 March 2009).
“For simple agility, precision of output, mastery of syncopated rhythms and sheer musical responsiveness, these pages demonstrated the choir's high standard, amplifying a minor episode into a passage that lives in the memory days after.” (Clive O.Connell, The Age, 21 March 2009).
Under the artistic leadership of Chorus Master Jonathan Grieves-Smith, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Chorus has established an enviable reputation for the inspiring standards of its singers and the breadth of its artistic vision.
The Chorus sings regularly with the world's finest conductors, including Yan Pascal Tortelier, Edo de Waart, Sir Charles Mackerras, Mark Wigglesworth and Manfred Honeck. Recent highlights with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra include Verdi's Requiem, Kancheli's Styx, Shostakovich Symphony No.13 Babi Yar, Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius and Wagner’s The Flying Dutchman.
The MSO Chorus is committed to developing and performing contemporary Australian and international choral repertoire.
